Radiant Heat under tile installations

Chicago weather can be harsh and trying to keep the chilly temperatures outside can be challenging. One way to keep your home warm and cozy is through the use of radiant heat flooring systems underneath tile installations. There are a number of benefits that Radiant heated floors offer, yet many folks are still passing on the opportunity to purchase this economical upgrade. There are different types of radiant heat systems available; however one of the most affordable involves a simple low profile matt system and appropriate thermostat.

At Home Carpet One, we offer this type of Radiant heat system, and often install them in homes where tile is being installed on or below grade. The first benefit of this type of heating system is that the radiant heat mats are energy efficient consuming only 12 watts per sq ft and can even be installed in shower or sauna applications. They can be custom ordered to be installed wall to wall, or simply in the areas of high traffic. Our installers can make easy adjustments for any rooms including those with angled or curved walls.

Secondly, these areas of the floor that are being heated can be kept at a comfortable 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Every system requires an Energy Star programmable thermostat, giving the owner the freedom to set the temperature, or simply the hours the system will be operational. It does need to be mentioned that these installations require a dedicated circuit and qualified electrician to handle all electrical connections. Although our tile installers are excellent mechanics, we do not allow them to handle any electrical obligations.

Lastly, these radiant heat systems are available in 110 volt and 220 volt making them ideal for both renovation and new construction projects and though the warranties vary depending on the manufacturer; it is not uncommon to receive a 25 year warranty when purchasing a radiant heat system.
