Area Rugs FAQ
Can I get the exact size rug I want?
Custom rugs can be made in almost any size you need. There are limitations on pre-made rugs to the sizes that the factory produces. If you want to fabricate a rug out of broadloom carpet, you are somewhat limited to the width of the carpeting. For example, most wool carpets come in a width of 13'2" to 15'. If you want to order a handmade rug, the only limitation is on the size of the loom.
Why doesn't my rug lay perfectly flat on the ground?
When broadloom carpet is manufactured it is made on a roll. Carpets can have a memory to them and sometimes, especially with a thinner material, when you make a rug from broadloom the ends can curl up. You can double-stick the edges with tape or reverse roll the rug for a bit to get it to relax.
What can I do about a snag in my rug?
The best thing to do is lift the fiber and clip it at it's source. Never pull on a snag. If you have any doubt, take a picture and send it to your sales associate for advice.
How long does it take to fabricate a rug from broadloom?
You can expect a typical rug to take four to five weeks from the date of order, but you may want to confirm the timing with your sales associate.
Why do handmade rugs take so long to make?
The lead time for most handmade rugs is between three and six months. Since the rugs are made by hand on a loom it is a very slow and deliberate process to hand weave a rug. In addition, once the rug is completed it then needs to be shipped on a container from overseas, which can take between six and ten weeks.
Will you ship rugs out-of-state?
We can ship a rug anywhere you need it. There are, however, some limitations on what can be shipped for residential delivery. If the rug is bigger than 8' x 11', it may need to be shipped to a commercial address. In most instances, we can help find someone in your marketplace to receive and deliver the rug to your home or office.
